If you’re on YouTube Premium, you’ve probably enjoyed features like ad-free videos, offline downloads, or even videos playing in the background.
But, if you’re not using that $12 monthly subscription and want to save some money instead, you can always cancel YouTube Premium. You can do this on Android, iOS, or even directly on the website.
To assist with canceling your subscription, ViralTipsOnline prepared a set of steps you can follow. But first (and this is important), you need to know the right time to go ahead with the cancellation process.

What is the best time to cancel YouTube Premium?
YouTube Premium is a month-to-month subscription, which means it renews at the end of each billing. They do offer a one-month free trial if you sign up using a Credit card or Debit card. Pretty cool, right?
Now, if you’re thinking about canceling your subscription, pay attention to the billing date. It’s important to deactivate the premium before the cycle ends. This ensures you won’t be charged for the next month.
Here’s the thing—even if you cancel midway through your billing cycle, you still get to enjoy YouTube Premium features until the next billing date arrives. So, no worries there.
And hey, if you’re mostly using your subscription just for YouTube Music, there’s an option for you too! You can cancel YouTube Premium and instead sign up for YouTube Music alone. This way, you can enjoy premium music at a lower cost.
Can you get a refund for YouTube Premium cancellation?
If you’ve purchased YouTube Premium & the services aren’t working as they should, you might be able to get a refund. For instance, let’s say you bought YouTube Premium but still see ads or can’t download Premium videos for offline use. In that case, you’re eligible for a refund.
To get your money back, contact the YouTube support team. They will look into what’s causing the problem (and believe me, they’ll find it!). If they determine you qualify for a refund, they’ll process it. The amount will be returned via the same payment method you used when subscribing.
So, remember, issues with ads or downloads? Reach out to YouTube Support & they’ll handle it.

Wind Up
Buying YouTube Premium has its perks. You can binge-watch all you want without any pesky Ads, but there’s more. You also have access to Premium music & premium videos.
Yet, if your schedule is too tight for you to enjoy Premium, it’s probably best to cancel it. You can use Android, iOS, or websites for that. Just get it again when you have more free time.
YouTube Premium, in addition to cancellation, lets you pause your subscription. You can resume it within six months. I find pausing the billing handy. I resume it whenever I need to.
But if you’re certain that YouTube Premium isn’t for you anymore, simply follow the steps mentioned to cancel it.
